29 is just a number

October 27th, 2007 by junnery

6bbd7twentynine i realized just this morning, that a week from now i am gonna be (gasp!) twenty–effing nine years old! can you imagine 29 years old!?

and so, it got me thinking…what have i achieved at this age? am i at that point where i have actually made something out of myself? have i matured? was i able to cross-out a lot of items on my to-do list? am i smashing success?

you see, 29 is a tricky number. when you’re at this age, people (and ,i mean relatives and friends) can’t seem to stop asking the proverbial question: "when are you getting married?" or "when are you gonna have kids?" and i’m like, yaiks…these concepts are still foreign to me (now, i’m exaggeratin’ a bit, but it kinda feels like that. hehe). don’t get me wrong, i do want to get married and have one kid (yes, just one please). but, why rush into something, when you’re not ready to take that huge leap, right?

i have friends who are now married and have kids, while i am still doubtful whether i’ll be able to handle a kid of my own. i find myself wondering…am i just too selfish or am i just scared?

the pressure is on, but i’m not worried. after all, 29 is just a number and i am still enjoying the life of "singlehood" where i get to go and do as i please without having to worry about feeding a crying baby. :)

note: OMG, i AM selfish!

my take on sucky movies.

August 26th, 2007 by junnery

we watched super bad last night. wanted to know what the hype was all about. sure it made me crack up, but there were really a lot of crude humor going on. it’s definitely not gonna be on my favorite list.

—-

knocked up was way better. i had the loudest laugh in the theater. and according to glenn, if i cry in the movie it means that i enjoyed it. hehe. katherine heigl is just really so pretty and and voluptuos, not the anorexic-sexy that most hollywood actresses are. and i like seth rogen’s role too. he was a natural.

——

a week ago, glenn dragged me to watch ‘invasion’ with his bro, mark and mark’s gf, angiela. god, this movie sucked, big time! i was told by glenn that this movie was a re-make. all i can say is that it was a total drag. zzzzzzz! wasn’t worth the ten bucks at all.

—–

spiderman 3 was cheesy as hell! i feel bad for the kids who stayed up late wanting to watch spiderman and all his action moves, but was sorely disappointed ‘coz all they saw was a bunch of corny dialogues and unnecessary cheesy scenes that wasn’t so spiderman at all. spiderman 1&2 were waaaaay better.

i’d have to say this for shrek the third as well. :( it wasn’t as funny as the first two that came out.

go and multiply!

August 9th, 2007 by junnery

just thought i’d add a new blog post. been really slacking in this area. haha. new lifestlye (naks!) is preventing me from updating my blog. uploading pictures is easier. so, you guys can just check out my multiply account. ;) add me if you haven’t done so (http://junnery.multiply.com/). friendster is getting boring now. haha!

the month that was

April 10th, 2007 by junnery

i ‘ve been putting off this blog thing for a while, i just did not feel like writing is all. :) you may have wondered (naks! feeling ko man people actually read this crap!).

so anyways, here’s a run down on the fun side (coz, i wouldn’t want to bore you with my oh-so-mundane life in the land of milk and honey–asus!) these past couple of weeks:

Img_7193_1vegas was definitely the bomb! it was my third time in vegas but i’ve never really BEEN to vegas–at least that’s what they say when you haven’t really experienced what vegas is all about (fancy clubbing, strip clubs, 5am breakfasts, expensive buffets, getting buzzed at noon, and all that craziness).

Img_7159_6 high light of that trip for me was the limo ride going to the strip club (yes, a male strip club, thank you very much!). we watched the "men of sapphire" strut their stuff on the stage. i swear i was squirming the whole time! i’ve never seen soooo many tight cute male butt cheeks in my 28 years of existence! oh, and the six packs. man! they’re buff! too bad, most of them are gay!

Dsc03160 wait, i got carried away. i’m supposed to write about the limo ride. hehe. so yeah, we felt really special riding in that limo. we din’t even have to pay for it. i guess the cab dispatcher of our hotel liked us, so he just said: "it’s ok ladies, it’s on me." oooh, we are too hot! haha! :)

then, there was club TAO. we had to dress up. t’was like prom night Img_7254_1 re-visited. hehe. that was the fun part! oh, this fancy schmancy club is such a snob! i wouldn’t even want to go into details. but the place was really tight. naked girls in a tub full of rose petals were part of the fancywork. security was waaay uptight. ugh. bottled water cost 6 bucks. even the bathrooms were off the hook! good thing we din’t have to pay for our drinks, coz there was a group of guys who actually paid for ours. like i said, we are the hotness crew. LOL!

Dsc03311_2 and the rest was spent with the usual stuff that people never miss out in vegas–hotel hopping, shopping, lots of big ass tube margaritas, and not getting enough sleep, ‘coz you know, no one sleeps in vegas!

——-

a week after, we had a post birthday celebration (for tiff and faye) at club icon. it’s supposed to be this new club that we had to check out. the place was packed with people who mostly had great fashion sense and a few who i dare say was pure monstrosity! i mean who comes to a club wearing a hawaiian shirt??! hehe. other than that, the music was great and drinks were not overpriced. i got happy and we danced the night away. :)

glenn came over 2 weekends ago. i have been waiting for sooo long! hihi. t’was pretty much a laid back weekend for us. this time, no bike rides to the golden gate bridge or anything that exhausting. it was biting cold that weekend so, any type of outdoor stuff was out of the question.

Frisco_style but we did go to haight st. ‘coz glennie had to have his usual cd/singles fix at amoeba. shopped at stonestown, and ate at Tu Lan twice! ( if you’re in SF you should eat there). it’s this ‘karinderya’ style vietnamese resto with the best beef steak i’ve ever tasted! and they have this special sauce that’s to die for and vietnamese coffee so strong, it would keep you up all night!

word of caution though, if you’re in sf never stay at the Hotel Whitcomb (it used to be Ramada) in market st. they suck! the staff have very poor customer service skills and they can’t be trusted! glenn’s ipod got stolen. :( it was the only item in our room that was missing after they cleaned it. when we reported this incident to the management we were informed that they couldn’t do anything about it. which is pure crap, really.

so, in return (are you ready for this? haha!) we did something really bad–we made sure that their housekeeping staff would at least spend a good 2 hours in that room after we left. i must say, glenn and i have our evil sides din pala, that is, only when provoked. heehee!

i am a bamboo groupie.

February 22nd, 2007 by junnery

3bi woke up today expecting that my day would be like any other day. i turned on the pc, checked my mails, friendster, and for some unknown reason, i googled bamboo. haha. i clicked on their website and i got hooked! his voice gives me goosebumps!

Img_0336so, from this day forward let it be known that i am a bamboo groupie. :)

i am still my papa’s little girl.

February 16th, 2007 by junnery

i got an unexpected mail from my dad yesterday (so in time for v-day!). t’was a pleasant surprise, really. he sent me this health clipping (yes, old school pa din ang tatay ko. hehe!) on how to combat insomnia ‘coz recently i’ve been complaining to him about having trouble sleeping at night again, and an article about how "americans have stopped obsessing about marriage." (hmm…i wonder why. haha!)

Dsc02892_5it’s just so like my dad to send stuff like that. he’s a voracious reader and when he finds something that would interest us or would help us in some ways, he’d definitely share it with us. :) he’d even highlight the best part! i remember vividly, when i was in high school my dad was helping me out with my homework in History. To my amazement, he knew all the answers to my questions. And so, i asked him: "how come you know all the answers ?" in which he answered so flippantly "it’s because i read!"

no, i did not grow up being given all the material things that a father could buy for his favorite little girl–i got more than that. my dad offered me knowledge (nakks! seryoso ito!). he did not buy me a ‘game and watch’ or a barbie doll, he bought scrabble to enrich my vocabulary instead (and i sooo love playing it!). he wouldn’t allow any "komiks" or gossip magazines in the house, but he subscribed to reader’s digest and Time magazine for current events.

that’s just the kind of father my dad is. i did not appreciate those things back then ‘coz i felt like my dad was just spoiling my kind of fun. but, what do you really know when you’re just a kid, right? the truth is, i’ve come to realize that my dad really knew what could be good for me–see, i turned out not brilliant, but definitely alright (heehee!). and, i have him to thank for that.

here’s what’s up!

November 7th, 2006 by junnery

ola! i’m back! the past few weeks’ been packed with all sorts of celebrations and events, that i don’t know where to begin! :)

Jaxs_bday_dinner_002jax’s birthday dinner at cha-cha-cha’s was hot! i mean literally hot. hehe. then, we went to skylark for a few booze and some dancing after dinner. dancing is always fun, but when guys start to want to dance with you, it ruins the moment. ahehe. buti sana kung them hot latinos, but no! they’re latinos alright, but they’re definitely not HOT. LOL! good thing, jax’s friend was there to ward off all the unwelcome pests. :)

——-

Dsc02628halloween was crazy! it wouldn’t be halloween if it wasn’t, wouldn’t it? ahehe! it was another first for me again! kakatuwa! jingles was a witch, jax a lady bug, faye the sexy nurse, tiff the dominatrix, and me as the slutty nerd. Dsc02652_00 ahehe! faye’s friends dressed up as a sexy firewoman, a hoochie cowboy(gay), and an army girl. everywhere we went, people were dressed in different kinds of costumes, too–some were creatively done, scary, a lot of hoochieness to the core, while others were just downright hilarious! our muni trip going to castro was a feast in itself! astig talaga! my sister was really playing tourist! she asked people with creatively done costumes for pictures! hehe!

castro was too crowded, it was madness! we left castro early to go clubbing at loft 11 (which was a good thing, coz it was all over the news the next morning that there were 7 people who got shot at castro a little after we left! scary!). Img_6512 loft 11 was also packed with people in diffrent kinds of costumes.

some girls were just "eeewwww" to look at. i swear. i guess they just realy took advantage of halloween to give them a good reason to look like hoe’s. seriously!

the walk home form club 11 was a killer! what with our 3-inch heels and all, and the fact that we saw this old guy "dressed" as adam (he had nothing on but a leaf in his *bleep*. ahaha! it was hilarious! great way to end our night. really. :)

——

Dsc02668on the eve of my (12th) birthday :), the girls "surprised" Dsc02672 me with a birthday cake. :) Dsc02677 it feels good to be special. hihi. we each had a shot of bacardi, shared laughters, took pictures and called it a night, since the real celebration was gonna be a birthday dinner at this peruvian place in Van Ness.

Now, i would have to make an entire new post about that and my weekend with glenn. :)

celebrations!

October 26th, 2006 by junnery

3 major things to look forward to in the coming days:

  1. jax’s bday celebration. we already had a pre-celebration last night.Jaxs_23rd_008_2  we surprised her with a birthday cake and the whole enchilada.  she was touched. and it was fun! we each had a shot of bacardi and we all got a little crazy. hehe. post celebration will be a birthday dinner tomorrow.
  2. halloween party at CASTRO! yey! last week, we went crazy shopping non-stop for 3-straight days not just for our costumes but more importantly of course, outfits for my upcoming birthday . hehe. i am sooo excited! we’ll all be so cute! :) you’ll all see it in my next post. promise!
  3. and last but not the least (syemps, i-broadcast ba!) my birthday! :) let’s leave it at that for now. i still haven’t really figured out what we’re doing for my birthday, so… oh! and it’s gonna be my dad’s birthday on the 4th, but we’re not celebrating together this year. different skeds and all.

ayun lang! :) i’m sure, you’ll all be getting sick of the pictures that i will be posting next week! hehe!

haay, buhay. parang life!

October 12th, 2006 by junnery

Picture_103same day last year, i got off the plane with mixed emotions–it’s like stepping in to a new life that i hardly know nothing of…i was excited, scared, and optimistic all at the same time.

and here i am now. the excitement’s gone. i still fear the uncertainties. and i am hanging on to my last thread of optimism.

dagdagan pa natin ang drama.

just read in my email that one of my aunts is suffering from cancer. :( it stirred up thoughts of my mom and how she suffered back then. i almost cried. i feel for my uncle and his kids. it is such a painful experience to go through… i hope they’ll all be okay.

and then, i also learned that my high school friend’s brother passed away about two weeks ago… :( coping with this kind of loss is the hardest thing. you start to question the guy up there. you want the world to stop spinning and let it suffer with you. but sadly, it doesn’t.

oh, it’s NOT easy. it’s a f**kin’ long process. it takes a while before you begin to accept things and struggle to move on. actually, you’ll never get over it. you just learn to accept the fact that someone very close to you is gone forever.

enough.

on a happier note, my good friend, rea gave birth to a bouncing baby girl. at least, i know someone close to me is content and happy.

so, yeah. LIFE’S like that.

two worth-blogging stories.

FOOTBALL WEEKEND

watched a football game 2 sundays ago (oakland raiders vs. cleveland browns). another first for me. almost did not make it. had to run to get our tickets (61 bucks a pop, buti na lang ours was free).

Dsc02430 i’ve been told that football is more ghetto than Img_6063_2 baseball. so, i prepared myself for the worst. hehe. but it wasn’t really that bad. people were just loud and rowdy. cops were everywhere to keep the peace. everyone wore black and silver. the coliseum was packed. there was human traffic on the way home. took us 10 minutes to cross the bridge going to the bart station when it usually just takes 3 minutes to get there.

too bad the raiders lost.

Dsc02418 oh, and we watched Gridiron Gang the night before. the movie almost made me cry. we were hella loud in the theater. hehe. good thing there were only like 15 people inside (including us), so it turned out like a private screening for us and being the camera whores that we are, we even had the chance to take pictures inside. :) sweeet!

THE EVIL SPIRIT

last friday, we went to club 6 for one of tiff’s friend’s b-day celebration. it’s been weeks since we’ve been to one! clubs are fun ‘coz we like to dress up (if you still haven’t noticed, hehe!) and we like to shake our booties. :)

Img_6113 a pre-clubbing requisite here, is to drink before going to the club. so we all shared a bottle of raspberry flavored bacardi while prepping ourselves up. it tasted sooo good, i had 5 shots. at dahil out of practice na ang lahi ko, it hit me soooo bad, i got wasted as f**k. hah!

of course, i will not go into details as to what happened that night. although, i am pretty sure jax would be delighted to give you the blow by blow account of what turned out to be an embarrassingly hilarious "walk of shame" that she had to share with me. hehe. according to her, if someone recorded the whole thing on camera we’ll definitely bag the "america’s funniest video" award.

but i have to tell you, i am not a drunkie, i just like to drink. hehe. and it’s been a looong time since i got this wasted! had i been younger (or not an adult for that matter) my sister would have given me a good spanking. :)
